The news of the bomb blast was first broadcasted by Channels Television during their late evening news broadcast at 10pm on 2nd October, 2015. As at then, it was only reported as breaking news of bomb blast in Kuje, a suburb of Abuja, the capital city of Nigeria. It was not ascertained how many lives were lost or how many injuries were recorded as casualties.
As the night of 2nd October gave way to the early morning of 3rd October, the ambiguous news about the Kuje bomb blast became very clear and verifiable. It was later ascertained that twin bomb blasts rocked the satellite town of Kuje around 9.00pm of 2nd October, 2015.
According to several eyewitnesses, the first blast occurred at a Police Station around Kuje Medium Prison while the second one went off around the main market area as people scampered for safety at the incidence of the first blast. The time interval between the two blasts were estimated to be fifteen minutes apart. However, in this bomb blasts, it was very obvious that the scenarios were not executed by suicide bombers as regular with the bombing occurrences in the northeastern part of Nigeria.
As at the time of writing this report, there has not come any responsibility comment from the Boko Haram insurgents as being responsible for the bombing incidence. Some reports had it that the bomb blasts occurred in the more than two locations as mentioned above. But the authenticity to such claim is yet to be confirmed by us or any trusted news media as at the time of this report.
According to Channels Television, by early morning hours of 3rd October, 2015, the death toll from the twin blasts in Kuje have been confirmed as 15 dead and 41 injured.
