Nigeria's Male And Female Football Teams Crash Out Of All Africa Games In Brazzaville

                                          Dream Team VI
Obfuscation as Team Nigeria kissed goodbye to its hope of a gold medal in the football event at the on-going African Games in Brazaville, Congo.
This follows a setback for Dream Team VI and the Super Falcons who lost to Burkina Faso and Cameroon respectively in the semi-finals of the competition.
Nigeria U-23 team, the Dream Team VI, failed in their bid to play in the finals of the All Africa Games football event as they lost 3-1 to Burkina Faso.
They conceded very early in the game thanks to an 11thminute strike from Sydney Sylla.
Burkina Faso went on to double their lead in the 73rd minute thanks to a superb strike from Omar Kabore.
Daniel Etor gave the Dream Team VI a lifeline when he netted two minutes later but Burkina Faso restored their two-goal cushion as Arba Dicko latched to a good pass to slot home his team’s 3rd in the 78th minute.
Reacting shortly after his team’s defeat, Samson Siasia said his team is not ready to compete, hinting that he will shop for new players.

Siasia said: “We are not ready, we have a long way to go if we want to compete.
“We made so many mistakes, we did not play well in the defence and we did not create chances upfront. Our defence was sleeping. It was the worse game this team has played.
“We would have to start looking at other players the way things are now going.”
Burkina Faso will now meet Senegal in the final of the competition.
In the ladies category, the Falcons lost 2-1 to Cameroon.
The Cameroonian goals came from Therese Abena in the 10th minute followed by that of Madeleine Ngo four minutes later while the only consolation goal for the Falcons came from Onome Ebi in the 48th minute.
In the other semi-final, Ghana squeezed past Cote d’Ivoire by a lone goal to secure a place in the final.
The Dream Team VI will now play Congo in a third place encounter billed for September 17 while Falcons will face Cote d’Ivoire in the third place match for bronze.
