Pope Francis Turns Down Lunch With Politicians To Dine With Poor People

The Pointiff has turned down lunch with members of US Congress to dine with 300 homeless people on Thursday the 24th of September 2015 in Washington D.C.

During his first trip to America Pope Francis has once again reminded world leaders that the Catholic church is for the poor by ditching lunch invitations from lawmakers and choosing to share a meal with around 300 of the capital’s homeless people.
Besides, the 78-year-old Roman Catholic leader was reportedly not only eating with the most vulnerable members of society, but serving them. The dinner was served in a tent set up outside St Patrick Catholic Church and held by charity organizations.

Pope Francis landed on U.S. soil on Tuesday, launching a six-day visit to highlight his love for the poor and willingness to tackle the nation’s most significant political, social and economic issues such as death penalty, immigration, abortion, gay marriage, the Syrian refugee crisis and many more.
Speaking about the immigration Pope said: Let us treat others with the same passion and compassion with which we want to be treated. Let us seek for others the same possibilities which we seek for ourselves. Let us help others to grow, as we would like to be helped ourselves.”
