Chelsea seem to have done it again. Just as Pedro was set to sign for Manchester United, they have plucked him from United’s grasp, and the deal is soon to be signed.
Chelsea have negotiated a price of £21m with Barcelona for the services of Pedro Rodriguez who was set to join Manchester United.
The deal is now soon to be completed as the player has agreed a contract with Chelsea.
The Spain international is a product of the La Liga club’s academy and has scored 99 goals in 326 appearances since his debut in 2008.
This has forced Manchester United to look at their other options for an attacker to support their Rooney, Januzaj, Memphis Depay attack trio.
They have gone back to Nicolas Gaitan but Benfica are not bulging.
United have also begun to look to Southampton’s Sadio Mane but the Saints are holding out as they are yet to find a notable replacement for their Senegalese striker.
The forward is said to be interested in the move but Southampton have dismissed Manchester United’s enquiry for the African’s services.
Mane scored 10 goals in 32 appearances last season after joining for£10m from Red Bull Salzburg.
Meanwhile on the other side of Manchester, Man City have completed the signing of Nicolas Otamendi who joins from Valencia for £32million.
Otamendi was wanted by Manchester United and Chelsea allegedly and will partner Vincent Kompany in Defense after City’s Mangala experiment went not so well.
Otamendi will wear the number 30 jersey for Manchester City.
